Clinical Psychotherapist, Moss and Main LLC, Kansas City, MO

Duties: Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral, within the context of marriage and family systems. Apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals and couples for the purpose of treating such diagnosed nervous and mental disorders. Utilize the DSM-V to diagnose clients clinically. Engage in face-to-face client contact. Encourage individuals and couples to develop and use skills and strategies for confronting their problems in a constructive manner. Ask questions that will help clients identify their feelings and behaviors and change behaviors that do not serve them. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing problems including relationship problems, destructive patterns of behavior, and other personal issues. Maintain case files that include activities, progress notes, evaluations, and recommendations. Counsel clients on concerns, such as unsatisfactory relationships, self-worth and self-identity, divorce and separation, child rearing, home management, or financial difficulties. Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments. Monitor clients to evaluate treatment progress. Determine whether clients should be counseled or referred to other specialists in such fields as medicine, psychiatry, or legal aid. Confer with clients to develop plans for posttreatment and progress maintenance. Retain clients while creating tailored treatment plans. Maintain responsibility for client management. No Hire/fire authority.

Requirements: Master’s of Science in Family Therapy. Requires completion of an 1000-hour internship including 250 relational hours. Must have the following trainings: PREP (Prepare/Enrich Premarital), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). Requires experience working in higher education.
