about Verena:
Verena is a licensed marriage and family therapist that believes in the power of human connection and vulnerability. Verena works with adults looking to connect to their authentic selves. Her style is warm, down-to-earth, and compassionate but she isn’t afraid to gently challenge when needed. Verena mainly uses trauma focused modalities like EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), NARM (neuroaffective relational model), and IFS (internal family systems). She works with clients who are tired of being stuck in the same patterns and are ready to explore what’s getting in the way of what they most want for themselves. Verena is particularly passionate about helping people honor the ways they’ve protected themselves, hold more compassion for themselves, and reclaim their agency as they heal and grow.
Verena got her BA in Psychology from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. She later moved to Kansas City and got her MS in Family Therapy at Friends University, and has advanced training in EMDR, PREPARE/ENRICH, and Nuroaffective Relational Model (NARM). Verena loves baking sourdough (and all yummy sweet treats), searching for poutines (a Canadian delicacy) in Kansas City, and binge watching silly reality shows (love island, love is blind etc.).
